The total number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka this year has exceeded 59,000, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The Unit said 59,638 dengue cases have been recorded islandwide so far in 2026.
Health authorities noted that June recorded the highest monthly number of infections, with 21,546 cases reported during the month.
Meanwhile, 4,251 new dengue cases have been reported during the first four days of July, indicating that the outbreak continues to spread across the country.
The Western Province remains the worst-affected region, with 31,249 cases reported so far this year.
The Southern Province has recorded 9,507 cases, while the Sabaragamuwa Province has reported 5,172 infections.
Health authorities have once again urged the public to take immediate steps to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, maintain clean surroundings, and actively support dengue prevention efforts to help curb the spread of the disease.
