Sri Lanka’s Official Reserves Surpass US$7 Billion for First Time Since 2020

Sri Lanka’s official reserve assets have surpassed the US$7 billion mark for the first time since August 2020, according to the latest data released by the Central Bank.

Official reserves stood at US$7,284 million at the end of February 2026, marking a 6.6% increase compared to US$6,832 million recorded in January.

The majority of the reserves came from foreign exchange assets, which rose from US$6,687 million in January to US$7,057 million in February.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank’s gold reserves also recorded a significant increase, rising by 83.4% from US$109 million in January to US$200 million in February.
