Democracy Reporting International (DRI), together with Factum and Media Law Forum (MLF), is implementing a programme that runs until 2026. The project focuses on protecting democratic debate online and supporting independent, accurate journalism.
Media Law Forum is a Sri Lankan non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting freedom of expression and strengthening media rights through legal support, advocacy, and capacity building.
As part of this work, MLF is conducting 20 newsroom training sessions across Sri Lanka. These sessions cover the revised 2024 election media guidelines, digital political advertising rules, ethical use of generative AI, and laws on online safety and election reporting.
Journalists, editors, and digital media teams will also receive practical tools like verification checklists, AI-disclosure prompts, and ad-labelling workflows to strengthen transparent and responsible reporting during election periods.
This effort aims to equip media professionals with the skills they need to counter hate speech, misinformation, and disinformation—helping ensure fair and trustworthy elections.
