The Sri Lanka Petroleum Private Tanker Owners’ Association has requested a 25% increase in fuel transportation charges.
Association President A.M.H. Adhikari said the proposal has already been submitted to the government, with a special discussion on the matter scheduled for today (26).
He noted that despite ongoing challenges, fuel distribution has continued without interruption.
Adhikari stated that fuel prices have risen by Rs. 101 this month alone, placing a heavy burden on tanker operators, particularly for long-distance deliveries.
He added that the Association’s Executive Committee has unanimously decided to seek a 25% increase for outstation transport, effective from the 21st.
The Association expressed hope that the government will respond positively to prevent further operational difficulties.
