The United National Party (UNP), as a major political force in the country, carries a significant responsibility at this crucial moment, said former Deputy Leader of the party and MP Ravi Karunanayake.
Speaking to the media, the MP stressed that the first step towards fulfilling this responsibility is to foster unity within the party.
He emphasized that President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa must work together and join hands, noting that the path forward can only be successful through mutual respect and cooperation.
Karunanayake further pointed out that senior and long-serving members of the party should not be sidelined or discriminated against. He also noted that he has personally experienced such treatment for a long time.
