Three-Day Special Mosquito Control Program Launched in Eight Districts

A three-day special mosquito control program has been launched in eight districts starting today (27), targeting areas with high mosquito density.

The program will be conducted in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Matale, and Matara districts, where the risk of dengue transmission remains high due to ongoing intermittent rains.

According to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU), the initiative will continue until March 29 and will involve inspections of houses, schools, workplaces, factories, places of worship, and public areas to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

Health authorities have urged the public to take necessary precautions by destroying potential breeding grounds on their properties. Over 11,000 dengue cases have been reported so far this year.
