Three Sub-Committees Appointed to Address Key Transport and Aviation Issues

Following the first ministerial consultative committee meeting of the 10th Parliament, three sub-committees have been appointed to tackle pressing issues in the transport, highways, ports, and civil aviation sectors.

The meeting was chaired by Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake.

  • Safety of Transport Professionals: Led by MPs Jagath Vithana, Dinindu Saman, and Devananda Suraweera.
  • Strengthening Legal Framework: Comprised of MPs Lakmali Hemachandra, Sugath Wasantha de Silva, Thanura Dissanayake, and Sujeewa Dissanayake.
  • Revenue Generation in Transport: Includes Deputy Ministers Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Ravindra Bandara, and Dhanushka Ranganath, focusing on additional service-based income opportunities in the industry.

The committees aim to enhance safety, improve regulations, and boost financial sustainability within the transport sector.
