Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places across most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m. today (18), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm can be expected in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Uva provinces, as well as in the Anuradhapura district.
A few showers may also occur over the eastern coastal areas during the morning hours.
Misty conditions are likely in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North Western and Uva provinces, and in the districts of Galle, Matara, Anuradhapura and Kalutara during the early hours of the morning.
The general public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
