A delegation from TikTok’s Sri Lanka team visited the Secretary to the Prime Minister today (July 16) at the Prime Minister’s Office to discuss common challenges and explore opportunities for leveraging digital platforms. The focus was on how TikTok can be used beyond entertainment to support economic development and digital education.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Division, the representatives emphasized the importance of incorporating legislation, research, and curriculum amendments to enhance digital education. They highlighted the need to address digital hygiene and promote economic opportunities through digital platforms.
The Secretary to the Prime Minister stressed the urgency of implementing such collaborative initiatives alongside ongoing education sector reforms.
The meeting was attended by Ferdous Al Mottakin, TikTok’s Head of Government Relations and Public Affairs for South Asia, the Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister, and other officials.
