“To Do Business with America, You Must Think Like Trump” – Ravi Karunanayake

Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and Member of Parliament, Ravi Karunanayake, has remarked that the new tax policies introduced under the Trump administration have sparked global controversy.

Speaking to the media, Karunanayake said that President Donald Trump, a businessman by background, is also running the country like a business. He noted that Trump consistently makes decisions based on America’s interests alone, adhering strictly to his own policies, regardless of international considerations.

“Until recently, the United States acted as a global policeman,” Karunanayake stated. “But under Trump, that role has shifted—the US now operates more like a domestic businessman, focused primarily on its internal gains.”

He emphasized that if Sri Lanka intends to continue trading with the United States, it must adapt to this new reality. “To do business with America, you have to think like Trump,” he asserted.
