US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the ongoing conflict involving Iran during a telephone call described by the Kremlin as “frank and constructive.”
According to the Kremlin, the two leaders focused on the conflict with Iran as well as ongoing negotiations between Russia and the United States regarding the situation in Ukraine.
Putin’s diplomatic adviser Yuri Ushakov said the Russian president presented several ideas aimed at achieving a quick political and diplomatic resolution to the Iranian conflict.
Ushakov added that these proposals were based on contacts Russia has held with leaders of Gulf states, Iran’s president and other international figures involved in discussions surrounding the crisis.
The adviser also noted that the two presidents discussed developments in Venezuela in relation to the global oil market situation.
The conversation took place amid rising tensions in the Middle East following the ongoing US-Israel military campaign against Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory attacks across the region
