Trump Threatens Heavy Strikes on Iran if Deal Conditions Are Not Met

April 7, 2026

US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States will launch major strikes on Iranian infrastructure, including civilian power plants and bridges, if Tehran fails to agree to terms to end the ongoing five-week conflict.

Speaking at a press conference at the White House, Trump said the attacks could take place as early as tonight, stressing that Iran must abandon its nuclear ambitions and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route.

“The whole country could be destroyed overnight… that could be tomorrow night,” he said, while adding that he hopes such action will not be necessary.

Trump claimed the US has the capability to “destroy every bridge” and disable Iran’s power plants within hours, describing the potential operation as a “complete demolition.”

The remarks have drawn criticism, with some warning that targeting civilian infrastructure could amount to a war crime—an allegation Trump dismissed.

Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth indicated that the coming days could see the most intense military action since the conflict began.

Trump also noted that recent proposals from Iran were “significant” but insufficient, adding that the war could end quickly if Tehran meets US demands.
