Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP) and current Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake has alleged that two individuals—whom he described as “ghosts”—are responsible for creating internal divisions and orchestrating character assassinations within the party.
Speaking on the matter, Karunanayake emphasized that the UNP is a party built on unity across all ethnicities. However, he warned that these unnamed figures are actively working to dismantle that foundation by targeting senior members of the party.
“I too have been a victim of these smear campaigns,” he said, stressing that genuine party loyalists do not condone such behaviour.
Karunanayake further remarked that the party’s setbacks at the recent local government elections were a direct result of these destructive actions.
