Two Men Drown While Fishing in Panahaduwa Reservoir Using Tyre Tube; Search Continues for One Body

Two men have reportedly drowned while fishing in the Panahaduwa Reservoir in Udawalawe, according to local police. The victims, aged 29 and 30, were residents of the Panahaduwa area and had ventured into the reservoir using a tyre tube as a flotation device.

Eyewitnesses say a local resident saw the men struggling in the water and promptly alerted authorities. A search and rescue operation was launched by officers from the Ambilipitiya Police and life-saving personnel from the Sri Lanka Army.

During the operation, one body was recovered, while efforts are still underway to locate the second individual. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
