Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, shared his views with the media on the various issues facing the party.
He stated that even the party leader, Ranil Wickremesinghe, acknowledges the need for collective action to address these problems. However, Karunanayake emphasized that the leader’s supporters must also accept this responsibility.
The MP highlighted that all members who have remained loyal, including himself, are true UNP members, and no one in the party represents an outside or elite faction.
He added that the essential requirement, even in words, is to unite everyone within the party. Karunanayake further stressed that anyone who attempts to stray from this path becomes an obstacle to the UNP’s progress.
