US Companies and Institutions Support Sri Lanka’s Recovery After Cyclone Ditwah – Ambassador Chung

December 18, 2025

US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung has highlighted the support extended by American companies and institutions toward Sri Lanka’s recovery efforts following Cyclone Ditwah.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Ambassador said that organizations such as Starlink, Microsoft, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are actively contributing to relief and recovery initiatives.

She noted that Starlink is providing free services to both new and existing customers until the end of December 2025 and has also donated 145 Starlink units to strengthen disaster response capabilities.

Meanwhile, Microsoft and MIT are collaborating on a programme to collect accurate data on businesses and properties affected by the cyclone, Ambassador Chung said.

“These efforts reflect the best of American innovation and our culture of partnership and philanthropy,” she stated, emphasizing the continued support of US organizations in assisting Sri Lanka’s recovery process.
