The Central Bank of Sri Lanka says the selling rate of the United States Dollar has risen above Rs. 342 according to the latest daily exchange rates released today (20).
According to CBSL:
- The buying rate of the US dollar was recorded at Rs. 332.08
- The selling rate stood at Rs. 342.70
This marks a sharp increase compared to yesterday’s (19) exchange rates, when:
- The buying rate was Rs. 328.23
- The selling rate was Rs. 338.07
Meanwhile, a state-owned bank today recorded:
- A selling rate of Rs. 345.20 for the US dollar
- A buying rate of Rs. 335.65
The continued depreciation of the Sri Lankan Rupee comes amid growing demand for foreign exchange and rising import-related pressures, particularly linked to fuel and vehicle imports.
