US Lawyer Sues Meta Over Repeated Facebook Account Suspensions

September 7, 2025

Mark S. Zuckerberg, a US bankruptcy lawyer, has filed a lawsuit against Meta, alleging that his Facebook accounts were repeatedly suspended for impersonating the social media giant’s billionaire founder.

Zuckerberg stated that his personal and business accounts were cut off multiple times over the past eight years, resulting in approximately $11,000 in advertising losses. He compared it to “paying for a billboard that was covered before it was displayed.”

The lawsuit claims that the misidentification of his identity caused both financial losses and personal inconvenience, including online harassment and legal confusion due to sharing the same name as the Meta founder.

Meta later reinstated his account, acknowledging that the suspensions were a mistake, and stated that it is implementing improvements to prevent similar issues in the future.
