The President unveiled the programme during an event in the Roosevelt Room of the White House, attended by leading members of the business community. A dedicated website accepting applications was activated simultaneously.
The new card is designed to replace the EB-5 visa scheme, which Congress introduced in 1990 to attract foreign investment. According to the official website, the Trump Gold Card will be issued only to individuals who can demonstrate that their contribution will bring “significant benefits” to the United States.
President Trump also announced on social media that the card will offer a direct pathway to US citizenship for eligible purchasers. He further stated that all revenue generated through the programme will go directly to the US government, with “billions” expected to flow into a Treasury Department–managed account earmarked for national development initiatives.
