Marco Rubio will undertake a four-day official visit to India beginning May 23 to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas including trade, defence, energy, and security.
The visit was announced by the United States Department of State.
According to State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott, Rubio is scheduled to visit:
- Kolkata
- Agra
- Jaipur
- New Delhi
During the visit, Rubio is expected to hold discussions with senior Indian officials on:
- Energy cooperation
- Regional and global security
- Trade relations
- Defence collaboration
Before arriving in India, Rubio will attend the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting in Sweden on May 22.
Meanwhile, India is also expected to host a meeting of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue foreign ministers next week in New Delhi.
The meeting, scheduled for May 26, is expected to focus on major global issues, including the impact of the ongoing West Asia crisis.
