Department of Motor Traffic Sri Lanka (DMT) has announced that the printing of vehicle number plates will resume within the next three months.
Commissioner General Kamal Amarasinghe said there is currently a backlog of nearly 400,000 number plates awaiting production. He added that the new printing process will comply with international standards.
Number plate printing was suspended in April last year following the cancellation of the previous tender. As a temporary measure, the Department had granted permission for vehicle owners to display provisional number plates.
