The Department of Meteorology has forecast a few showers in Northern, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as in Polonnaruwa, Matale, and Nuwara-Eliya districts today (26).
Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in Sabaragamuwa province and in Galle, Matara, and Kalutara districts after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some locations.
Fairly strong winds of around 40 kmph can occur at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern Province, and in Hambantota and Monaragala districts.
Misty conditions are expected during the early morning in parts of Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces, as well as in Badulla, Galle, and Matara districts.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
