The Department of Meteorology has forecast several spells of showers for today in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
A few showers may also occur in the North-Western Province.
Additionally, isolated showers or thundershowers are expected in the Uva Province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the afternoon or night.
Fairly strong winds, reaching speeds of 30–40 km/h, are anticipated at times over the Western slopes of the Central Hills and in the North-Western, North-Central, and Southern provinces.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
