The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory stating that showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Central provinces.
Heavy Rainfall:

Fairly heavy rain above 50 mm is likely at some places in Mullaittivu, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, and Matale districts.

Uva and North-Western provinces will experience several spells of showers.

Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places across other areas of the island after 2:00 p.m., with heavy rainfall above 50 mm possible at some locations.
Morning Conditions:

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts during the early morning hours.
Precautions:
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize risks from localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea Conditions:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast from Pottuvil to Kankasanthurai via Batticaloa and Trincomalee.

Evening or night showers are expected at several places in other surrounding sea areas.

Winds: North-easterly at 30-40 kmph, increasing to 45-50 kmph at times in the sea areas off Kaluthara to Mannar via Colombo and Puttalam, and Hambantota to Pottuvil.

The sea off Kaluthara to Mannar and Hambantota to Pottuvil will be fairly rough, while other sea areas will remain moderate.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas are possible during thundershowers.
The Department of Meteorology urges the public, especially those in vulnerable coastal and low-lying areas, to stay alert and exercise caution.
