The Department of Meteorology reports that a few showers may occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Northern Provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Showers or thundershowers are also likely at a few places in the Uva, Eastern, and North Central Provinces after 2.00 p.m.
Elsewhere, mainly fair weather will prevail across the island, the Department said.
Meanwhile, due to the sun’s apparent southward relative motion, it will be directly overhead Sri Lanka from August 28 to September 7.
The nearest locations over which the sun was directly overhead today (6th) at around 12.08 p.m. were Ahungalla, Elpitiya, Amugoda, Thawalama, Deniyaya, Urubokka, Embilipitiya, Suriyawewa, Beralihela, and Galkaduwa.
