The Welfare Benefits Board has called on beneficiaries without bank accounts to take immediate steps to open one in order to receive their benefits.
The board revealed that nearly 6,000 eligible individuals missed out on benefits during the first phase of the scheme due to the absence of bank accounts.
Acknowledging challenges faced by some individuals, including the lack of a National Identity Card, the board assured that alternative arrangements are in place. Divisional Secretariats have been instructed to assist beneficiaries in opening accounts even without an ID.
Beneficiaries must obtain a letter from their respective Divisional Secretariats before December 27 to complete the account-opening process and secure their benefits.
