Former UNP Deputy Leader and Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake said that one of the most serious problems in the country’s politics is that working people are not given due recognition or opportunity.
He made these remarks while commenting on the decision taken by governments that came to power after 2015 to discontinue the National Insurance Trust Fund, which had been introduced during the UNP administration.
The MP expressed concern over the failure to implement the insurance programme in line with the disaster management framework that was later introduced. He alleged that such shortcomings stem from the lack of a forward-looking vision among those in power.
