Yevan David Makes History as First Sri Lankan Driver to Join FIA Formula 3

A historic milestone for Sri Lankan motorsports has been reached as Yevan David, known as the “Sri Lankan Lion on the Track,” has been officially confirmed to compete in the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season with AIX Racing. This signing makes the 18-year-old the first-ever Sri Lankan driver to secure a place in the prestigious championship.

David’s rise to F3 follows an impressive campaign in the Euroformula Open Championship, where he currently holds second place in the drivers’ standings with 213 points. Earlier this month, he further proved his versatility and skill by achieving a top-10 finish in the fiercely competitive GB3 Championship.

After a successful karting career, David transitioned to single-seater racing in 2024, competing in the Eurocup-3, Spanish F4, and UAE F4 Championships. His rapid progression and consistent performance during his debut full season have now propelled him to one of the highest levels of junior formula racing.

This landmark achievement not only puts Sri Lanka firmly on the global motorsports map but also sets the stage for future generations of Sri Lankan racing talent. David’s journey stands as a testament to dedication, skill, and ambition—proving that Sri Lanka has the potential to compete and succeed at the highest levels of international racing.
