Sri Lanka Customs Achieves Record Revenue of Over Rs. 1.5 Trillion in 2024

By the end of 2024, Sri Lanka Customs achieved a historic milestone, surpassing Rs. 1.5 trillion in revenue, marking its highest annual revenue to date.

The Rs. 1.5 trillion threshold was crossed by 11 p.m. on December 31, with projections indicating it would reach Rs. 1.515 trillion by the end of the day. This significant achievement brought Customs very close to the government’s revenue target of Rs. 1.533 trillion for 2024.

The record-breaking revenue is attributed to effective government tax policies, increased imports, and vital reforms in the Customs administration that streamlined the tax collection process. These efforts, along with the dedication of Customs staff, played a crucial role in meeting this remarkable milestone.

Sri Lanka Customs extends its gratitude to all taxpayers for fulfilling their obligations, which contributed to this historic achievement. The Customs staff also expressed pride in making a substantial contribution to the national economy, helping to near the government’s revenue target for the year.
