Proposal to Review Adani Group’s Wind Energy Projects in Sri Lanka to Be Tabled

A proposal to establish a committee to evaluate the Adani Group’s wind energy projects in Sri Lanka is set to be presented at the Cabinet meeting scheduled for tomorrow (January 6), according to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Energy.

The projects in question involve constructing wind power plants in the Mannar and Poonaryn regions, areas identified for their high wind energy potential.

Previously, under an agreement approved by the former administration, a tariff of 8.26 US cents per unit of electricity was determined for the energy produced by these wind farms.

The new proposal seeks to appoint a committee tasked with reevaluating the terms and conditions of this agreement, ensuring its alignment with current energy goals and economic considerations.
