The services of three staff members, including the assistant housekeeper of the Department of Catering and Housekeeping in Parliament, have been suspended following allegations of sexual harassment.
The Parliamentary Administration stated that the suspensions were based on recommendations from a committee led by former High Court Judge Kusala Sarojani Weerawardena, who investigated the incident.
The allegations of sexual assault were initially reported in August 2023. The Parliamentary Administration has reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace environment.
