Sri Lanka, U.S. Discuss Regional Security as President Dissanayake Meets Admiral Paparo

Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), at the Presidential Secretariat today (21), focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and regional security.

Admiral Paparo extended his best wishes to President Dissanayake and praised the new government’s policy direction. He commended Sri Lanka’s role in maintaining a peaceful maritime environment and reaffirmed U.S. commitment to bolstering ties between the two nations.

The Admiral pledged support for Sri Lanka’s new initiatives and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in the Indo-Pacific. In response, President Dissanayake expressed gratitude for U.S. assistance in developing Sri Lanka’s security forces, recognizing its positive impact on the country’s defense capabilities.
