No Suspicious Individuals Found on SriLankan Airlines Flight Following Terror Alert

Deputy Minister of Defence Arun Jayasekara has confirmed that no suspicious individuals were identified on board the SriLankan Airlines flight from Chennai, which was subjected to a security inspection at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today (3 May), following a terror-related alert linked to the recent attack in Kashmir.

Addressing the media, Jayasekara stated that the search operation was initiated based on intelligence shared by Indian authorities. However, a comprehensive inspection of Flight UL 122, which arrived at 11:59 a.m., yielded no findings of concern.

The alert was related to individuals allegedly associated with the Pahalgam terror incident in India. In response, Sri Lanka’s security forces conducted a detailed examination of the aircraft upon arrival.

SriLankan Airlines issued a statement confirming that the operation was carried out in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies following the alert received from the Chennai Area Control Centre. The aircraft was subsequently cleared for service, although the search led to a delay in its next scheduled departure, Flight UL 308 to Singapore.
