“A Country Is Not One Person—We Must Work Together,” Says Ravi Karunanayake

Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party (UNP), MP Ravi Karunanayake, emphasized that the responsibility of building a nation cannot rest on the shoulders of a single individual and urged all citizens and political leaders to come together in unity.

Speaking to the media, Karunanayake stated that dividing along party lines and engaging in blame games is unproductive in the current context. He stressed the importance of collective action over political rivalry.

“This is not merely a conflict between those who have held power from time to time,” he said. “What we are facing is the result of a systemic failure that the country has endured for the past 76 years.”

Karunanayake added that this long-standing national failure must be addressed collectively and that the time has come for Sri Lankans to unite in the interest of the country’s future.
