The Department of Meteorology has issued an ‘Amber’ level advisory for severe lightning, warning of potential thundershowers accompanied by intense lightning activity in several regions.
According to the advisory, thundershowers are expected in parts of the Uva and Eastern provinces, as well as in the Mullaittivu and Vavuniya districts. Temporary localized strong winds may also occur during these thundershowers.

The public is advised to take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk of lightning-related damage, including:
