The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers or thundershowers at times today in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern, and Northwestern provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Fairly heavy rainfall of around 75 mm is expected at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Northern provinces, and in Galle and Matara districts.
After 1:00 pm, showers or thundershowers are likely in several other areas of the country. Meanwhile, coastal areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Matara via Colombo and Galle will experience intermittent showers or thundershowers. Other sea areas may also see showers during the evening or night.
South-westerly winds are expected at speeds of 30–40 kmph, occasionally reaching 50–55 kmph in the sea areas off the coast from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota, and up to 50 kmph from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.
Sea conditions are likely to be rough at times off the coast from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota, and fairly rough from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.
