Sri Lanka’s first AI-powered tourism hotel project, titled Grand Serendib Colombo, was officially launched under the patronage of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath.
Joining the Minister at the opening ceremony were legendary cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya and Dilip K. Herath, representing ABEC Premier, the developer behind the project.
Speaking at the event, Minister Herath stated, “The commencement of this project marks a major investment milestone for Sri Lanka, reflecting the growing investor confidence in our tourism sector. By integrating artificial intelligence into hospitality, this initiative will take Sri Lanka’s smart tourism industry to the next level.”
The launch event, held on Friday (10) at Shangri-La Colombo, also coincided with the 20th anniversary celebration of the ABEC Group. The ceremony was attended by MP Dr. Harsha de Silva, senior academics from local and foreign universities, diplomats, and distinguished professionals from various sectors.
