Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayake revealed that the World Bank has recommended reducing the size of Sri Lanka’s public service.
Speaking to the media, he questioned how the government plans to respond to this recommendation and urged transparency on how such measures would be implemented in practice.
Karunanayake further noted that the current administration has pledged to follow the recommendations of both the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
Therefore, he emphasized that the government must clearly state its position regarding the World Bank’s proposal to cut public sector employment.
