Sri Lanka Railways has introduced a new digital ticketing platform, allowing passengers to purchase train tickets online for the first time.
The new service, branded as “Pravesha,” is available through the official website Pravesha and a dedicated mobile application.
Passengers can purchase tickets by entering their travel details and making payments using credit or debit cards.
Once the transaction is completed, an electronic ticket is sent instantly to the passenger via SMS or email.
The e-tickets feature QR codes, which can be scanned for verification at railway stations and onboard trains.
The initiative forms part of the government’s wider digitalisation programme aimed at modernising public transport services and improving convenience for passengers.
