Japan has agreed to provide emergency assistance to Sri Lanka as the country grapples with widespread devastation caused by adverse weather conditions.
According to the Japanese government, an assessment team will be deployed through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to support immediate relief and recovery operations. The team will include medical officers tasked with evaluating Sri Lanka’s emergency health needs and coordinating the deployment of a Japanese disaster relief team.
Japan will also supply essential emergency relief items — including tents, blankets, and other critical materials — through JICA to support families affected by flooding and landslides.
