The Department of Meteorology has warned of showers or thundershowers across the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central, Southern, and Uva provinces today.

Heavy rainfall above 100 mm is likely in parts of the Northern, North-Central, and Eastern provinces.

Fairly heavy rainfall of around 75 mm is expected in the Central and Uva provinces.

Other areas may experience showers or thundershowers after 1.00 p.m.
Strong winds of 30–40 km/h are expected at times over the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, including the Trincomalee district and the eastern slopes of the central hills.
Misty conditions are likely in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces during the early morning.
The public is advised to take precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
