US President Donald Trump has told Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre that he no longer feels bound “to think purely of peace” because the Norwegian Nobel Committee did not award him the Nobel Peace Prize.
According to an extraordinary text message sent to Støre, first reported by PBS and later confirmed by an official in the Norwegian Prime Minister’s Office, Trump linked his repeated threats to seize control of Greenland to his frustration over not receiving the prestigious award.
Trump, who has long expressed a desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize, reportedly suggested that the lack of recognition has influenced his approach to international peace and security issues.
