University Grants Commission Sri Lanka (UGC) has announced plans to construct new hostel facilities across seven universities, providing accommodation for at least 2,400 students.
According to the UGC, the project will be implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of Education Sri Lanka and is aimed at addressing the acute shortage of residential facilities currently faced by university students.
The initiative is expected to significantly improve student welfare and ease accommodation challenges across the state university system.
