Tourist Arrivals in Sri Lanka Cross 400,000 Mark in Early 2026 – SLTDA

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) said foreign tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka have surpassed 400,000 during the elapsed period of 2026.

According to the Authority, a total of 401,787 foreign tourists entered the country between January 1 and February 12. The highest single-day arrivals were recorded on February 12, when 12,731 tourists visited the island.

India remained the leading source market, accounting for 70,880 arrivals. This was followed by 44,053 visitors from the United Kingdom, 36,949 from Russia, 28,332 from Germany, and 22,309 from China.

The SLTDA also noted notable tourist inflows from France, Australia, and Netherlands.

In addition, the Authority reported that 124,460 foreign tourists arrived in Sri Lanka during the first 12 days of February alone, reflecting continued strong momentum in the tourism sector.
