A 64-year-old Hungarian national has died following a wild elephant attack in the Pidurangala area near Sigiriya.
The man was reportedly walking with his wife when the elephant attacked. He was rushed to Sigiriya Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on admission.
Authorities have launched further investigations into the incident.
Officials have once again urged visitors to exercise extreme caution in wildlife-prone areas and to follow local safety guidance when exploring regions close to forest reserves.
