Sri Lanka is not listed among the more than 80 United Nations member states that have issued a joint statement condemning recent unilateral actions by Israel in the occupied West Bank.
A joint statement delivered at the United Nations was backed by 85 UN member states and several international organisations, including the European Union, the League of Arab States, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. These countries condemned “unilateral Israeli decisions and measures aimed at expanding Israel’s unlawful presence in the West Bank,” calling such actions contrary to international law and urging they be reversed immediately. The statement also reaffirmed opposition to any form of annexation.
The list of signatories includes nations from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas, but Sri Lanka was not among them.
Sri Lanka has historically supported the Palestinian cause in various UN resolutions and maintains close involvement in committees addressing human rights in the occupied territories, but it did not sign this specific joint condemnation on West Bank expansion.
