Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka says showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces today (20).
Fairly heavy rainfall of around 75 mm is likely at some locations in the Eastern Province and in the Matale, Badulla, Mullaitivu and Polonnaruwa districts.
Several spells of showers are also expected in the Hambantota district.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere after 1.00 p.m., while fairly heavy rain exceeding 50 mm is likely at some locations in the Ratnapura, Galle, Matara and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the early morning hours.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimise possible damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
