Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka says showers or thundershowers are expected over most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. today (22), due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.
Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely at some locations, the Department added.
Morning showers may also occur in the Western and North-western provinces and in the Mullaitivu district.
Misty conditions are expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts during the early morning hours.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimise possible damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
