The black armband protest launched by customs trade unions will continue today (26), according to the Customs Trade Union Alliance.
The Alliance stated that a decision on whether to intensify trade union action will depend on the outcome of today’s scheduled discussion with the Deputy Minister of Finance regarding their demands.
Meanwhile, Vice President of the Customs Officers’ Association, Geethanjana Madapatha, confirmed that the trade union action of wearing black armbands while carrying out official duties—initiated on February 24—remains in effect.
The unions have indicated that further steps will be determined based on the progress of discussions with the Finance Ministry.
