CEB Restructuring Must Be Implemented Properly and Without Delay, Says Ravi

February 26, 2026

Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party and MP Ravi Karunanayake has stressed that the restructuring process of the Ceylon Electricity Board must be carried out immediately and in a proper manner.

He noted that the Ceylon Electricity Board currently employs around 27,000 staff members, in addition to approximately 3,000 temporary employees.

The MP said that shortcomings in the present restructuring procedure have hindered employees who were willing to resign voluntarily, effectively depriving them of that opportunity.

He warned that due to these procedural weaknesses, the overall restructuring effort now appears to be facing a crisis, and called for corrective measures to ensure transparency, fairness, and efficiency in the process.
